Home Health Skilled Nursing
Home-based skilled nursing care is administered when a person requires the aid of a Registered Nurse (RN) or a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to manage, observe, and evaluate care. Most often, Home Health Skilled Nursing is needed when an individual is recovering from an injury or illness and the patient’s physician has approved the care orders.
A person must be homebound in order to qualify for Home Health Skilled Nursing services. According to www.medicare.gov, homebound means:
Leaving your home is not recommended because of your condition
Your condition keeps you from leaving home without help (such as using a wheelchair or walker, needing special transportation, or getting help from another person)
Leaving home takes a considerable and taxing effort
During Home Health Skilled Nursing, Signature Healthcare at Home care staff will educate the patient and his or her family on a number of caregiving items, such as changing dressings, administering shots, giving IV drugs, or tube feedings. Even though this may not be considered a skilled nursing service, we are happy to teach the proper techniques to help the home caregiver feel confident in the provision of these services.
